Cars stranded on Lake Shore Drive Chicago (Yahoo Pics)
Looking out our patio door.
Our side door
Taking a spin down our street.
The power started blinking on and off while giving the little one a bath and getting her in bed last night...she didn't like that very much. Then about 9:30 p.m. it went off again...the furnace shut off with a thud. I had a feeling it wasn't coming back on anytime soon so I covered the little one up with a few warm blankets and we hoped for the best. Thank goodness the power came back on about six hours later.
I heard spring might be on its way early this year...let's hope so!
i don't put any faith in phil. i hope he is right, but i just don't know! stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteYowesers, that's a lot of snow! Glad you got out!
ReplyDeleteI am in the same boat as you. Kids home all day. Freaking snow up the ying yang. Dog terrified to go out in it. Ugh, how I am looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteYikes!! You guys got a ton!! Let's hope spring is truly around the corner. I think I've had enough snow!
ReplyDeleteHi there! I saw your post on Urban Farmgirl's sidebar! I just posted about the blizzard, too! :) We have that same kind of pull sled, too!

ReplyDeleteYup, we definately got slammed by this blizzard. We live in the burbs and our back patio looks just like yours. Glad you and your family are safe.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it just crazy??! I have to admit, I kinda like days like this...all warm and cozy in the house. I need something like this once in a while to make me get some things done around the house! ;o)
ReplyDeletePop over to my blog if you have a second! I have $100 in Target gift cards up for grabs!!

Stay warm! My MIL is in Michigan. We heard the waves were up to 25 ft. on Lake Michigan during the storm. She is right on Lake Huron.

lea
Glad you weren't left in the cold for too long. Being snowed in is the best. We have had 2 days of it. That storm managed to fizzle out before it hit us but we have reminders of recent snow storms! Stay warm :) http://cbsmallhome.blogspot.com/2011/02/unanticipated-water-feature.html
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! That is a lot of snow!! Your little one looks like she's having a blast being dragged in the sled. We've had snowy power scares like that before too...not much to do other then bundling everyone up.
ReplyDeleteWow, I just can't imagine so much snow. Those pictures are astounding with the stranded cars. Crazy amount of snow!!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping for early spring as well my sanity depends on it. I am a Florida girl at heart and these winters in DC are becoming tuffer to get through.
ReplyDeleteholy snow. that is crazy! i'm hoping the groundhog can be trusted this year... would love an early spring.
ReplyDeleteWe are going through the same thing here in Tulsa. We tried digging out the driveway today so maybe we could get out! Shut down our whole city with the 18" or snow. Hope your getting along okay. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you and your family are safe! Such crazy weather!
ReplyDeleteAmazing storm. We had one here in Virginia nowhere near that kind of snow but we had a power outage for two days!! Looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow!! That is crazy! We had an almost 70 degree day here in Richmond, Va. which is unheard of but I'll take it! I like the snow when you can stay snug in your house and enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!!! We have that same snow here in CO! In fact, it was 45 below 0 today....most of the day!!! what IS that? hahahaha, Thanks soo much for your kind words on my blog....such encouragment!!! I LOVE your blog btw.....it is a daily read for me (or whenever you post) :) love it! stay warm!!!
ReplyDeleteThe drifts here are as high as yours and there are snow walls along the streets from the plows. Now we have to deal with the frigid temps.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your furnace...thankfully it was just 6 hours. It looks like little one had a good time on the sled!
XO,
Jane
Wow! I had no idea. I do kind of like a day like that when we are prepared, but then I want it to go away quickly. Stay warm.
ReplyDelete-Rene
LUCKILY, Cincy didn't get much snow. I'm happy to hear you all are safe at home though ☺ This may be a silly question, but was anyone stranded along with their cars? I CAN'T IMAGINE!
ReplyDeleteThat is insane! I've never been in that much snow before. Well, when you've had enough of that mess...come visit sunny South Florida and you and I will go thrifting!
ReplyDeleteAngela's eyes...Yes, people were stranded with their cars, some overnight! It started when a few accidents happened and people couldn’t get off on the ramps. Some of them got stuck in the snow as they waited and some ran out of gas.
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy on Lakeshore!! Hopefully traffic is moving along now. I am so glad that your power wasn't out for too long, it was cold!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow look at all that snow! That pic of your little one is priceless.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping for 1-2" here in Houston tonite and it looks like the whole city might be shut down. Funny isn't it?! ;)
xo~

ReplyDeleteOmy gosh you had heaps of snow the weather is going crazy so glad the power came back on to keep you warm. I have had a cyclone go past to the north of me & floods to the south (phew do I feel lucky) mother earth is definetly bitting back this year!
ReplyDeleteOh I have been thinking of you! Glad you made it through. I can't believe that pic at the side door, and the patio you have shown us in summer!! Wow! It's great to be a kid pulled around on a sled, isn't it? Where can I sign up for that again?? xxoo
ReplyDeleteThat is unbelievable. I can't even imagine it as we live in GA and only have rain and slightly cold temp. Hope your power stays on.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Tammy
Wow, looks like you guys got slammed with snow last winter. We got hit pretty hard too up here in the Lexington MA area, several feet of snow. It really damaged a lot of home exteriors which created a lot of exterior painting work for my business. Thanks for the share!
