Hallway decisions

If you are a regular reader you might know that projects tend to go pretty slow around here. Especially when I can't make up my mind about paint colors. Or if I have to convince a certain someone to help me with a project that would require more time and money. I happen to think our ugly back hallway is worth it.

When we moved in, it was sponge painted green and white. It was very busy and outdated so I painted it brown hoping the dark walls would hide the fingerprints and dirt. Now I'm craving something bright and fresh to welcome us home.

The last couple of days have gone a little something like this....

Me...Hey honey, look at these pictures...I love all these mudrooms with white beadboard and board and batten. I think it would really freshen up the hallway. What do you think?

Mr. 65th...I don't think it's worth it, we don't spend a lot of time in there.

Me...True, but it is the first space we walk into when we come home.

Mr. 65th...It would be such a pain because of all the angle cuts that we...or should I say I would need to make. Just paint it like we planned...is it really worth all the extra time?

Me....I think it is. Plus, this would be a great place to try it out.

As of right now, I'm still not sure what we're going to do with the walls. I do know we want to check this project off our list this weekend.

Here is a little peek at the stair project I'm working on. I hope this is one of those projects that turns out the way I envision it. We will see.

  4. Dear Mr. Sixty-Fifth,

As of this moment, there are 645 people waiting on pins and needles for yet another AMAZING project to be revealed by the one and only Mrs. Sixty-Fifth. As our inspiration and project-testing/go-to/put hot glue on the mantel for us - girl, we rely on Mrs. Sixty-Fifth to show us how incredible a project can be. This time, we're really crossing our fingers that she will reveal the wonders of beadboard in a mudroom/entry hall. Won't you please use your ever-so-incredible artistic and carpentry skills to help her out, so that YOU, too, Mr. 65th, can revel in the astounding flood of compliments that shall surely follow via the comment section of Mrs. 65th's incredible blog.

    Thank you so very much,
One who doesn't have a mudroom, but will wish she did.

Thanks girls for the fun comments, I love it! I think Mr. 65th likes the attention...he just went and measured to see how many boards of the beaded stuff we would need.

  13. LOL! It's so frustrating when hubby is not on board with your plans. I have been trying to talk him into letting me paint my kitchen cabients for a while now. I finally have some leverage - he wants his office painted. wink, wink looks like I'll be dusting off the paint brushes soon.

I crossing my finger that your hubby will come around to your way of thinking soon! Because you are so right, it would be the perfect place to try it out.

  14. I'm with you...the first place you walk into is important. Plus hallways are great for that kind of finish because you can easily clean it. Hallways always get smudged, nicked, dinged...add a couple of sconces, hooks and you'll love it forever.
