The Practice Dresser

My sweet husband came home with this dresser that someone was throwing out and I was thrilled. Some of you might be wondering why a beat up old dresser with a missing drawer would make me so happy. Well, as some of you know I have been working on perfecting my paint spraying technique and I wanted to practice on something with drawers.

I removed a bunch of stickers that were stuck all over the top and sides and got it all cleaned up before I got to the fun part.

 My hardware cleaning station.

I was painting my dining room chairs white at the same time so white it was for the dresser. I distressed this piece quite a bit because it was already worn on the edges so I went with the shabby look.

All the original hardware was there.

The basket is from Ikea.

Now I feel ready to do some painting for a friend. I'm posting this on Craigslist to see if anyone is in need of a dresser with a basket for a drawer...you never know.

  13. How could you not keep this lovely for yourself? The basket is a perfect addition. I do believe you have become a master painter! You should consider placing it in a consignment shop and get a good price for it. Gorgeous!

  15. That is gorgeous! I keep hoping to run across something similar for my kitchen. I want one so I can store linens in the drawers and the kids art supplies (since they always end up in the kitchen) in the basket.

  22. How could someone have been throwing out such a nice bureau? Oh, wait...if people didn't throw out great stuff, what would the dumpster divers do?
What a great husband to bring that home and you did a super job. I would be happy to give that piece a home...if I had the room.

  27. That's amazing. I guess you've mastered the spray gun. I called a furniture painter to see how much it would cost to have my son's dresser done and he quoted me $800! Thanks, but no thanks. Maybe he wasn't really interested in helping me, lol. What happened to that awesome settee you found??? Love that. xoxo

  28. It's really cute! It would be a great piece for a guest bedroom.

    ReplyDelete
  29. RLG, wow $800.00!! That is crazy! My settee is sitting up in the rafters of the garage waiting to be reupholstered. One quote I got was for $700.00 before my fabric cost. Sadly, there are other projects in line before that gets done.
