It was already sanded down to the bare wood and ready to be painted or stained. I'm thinking about painting it a fun color to use somewhere in the house, just not sure where yet. Maybe the dining room or living room. Oh, and it needs a seat and some fabric too. Any ideas for my seven dollar chair? I would love some suggestions.

A Great Find
On our way home from Michigan a couple weeks ago we came across a few garage sales. Our car was already full but I did manage to fit this cute little chair in.

Oh that is too cute! And seven dollars??!! It would be a great chair for your sweet girl or a side chair tucked in a corner. Good luck - can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteWow- $7 and half the work is already done:) Such great detail on the chair. I've been loving looking at all the fun fabrics out there these days. Hard to choose just one, but so easy to change out for a seat.
ReplyDeleteThat IS a great find! What a great shape. I think it would look great in a fun, bright colour! So can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteoh a FABULOUS find! I am jealous, love good garage sale finds! (I mean who doesn't....) Can't wait to see what you do. It looks like it would be the perfect little side chair somewhere, in a fabric that really POPs. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove the detail!
ReplyDeleteI love super old vintage chairs in super bright modern colours myself! I'm sure whatevery you choose will look awesome.

oh...you are going to have so much fun with the chair! I would do a pretty floral seat cushion to bring out the fine lines and carving in the chair. Ooh la la! It's going to be great!

Oh Wow!! That is gorgeous! I could see it white in your little one's room - to coordinate with her bed. Of course, a fun color would be awesome, too. If you can't decide, you can always give it to me. :)
ReplyDeletei have a chair just like that in my basement. i've painted it every color under the sun i think. right now it's creamy white but i can't wait to see what you do with it.

You are so clever! Nate Berkus would be so proud of you. Did you see his new show today? I have it Tivo'ed for later. Bright yellow or turquoise would be fun. Can't wait to see what you decide. xoxo
ReplyDeletethat is such a cute chair with great detail! i love when i find pieces that are already stripped and ready to go- saves a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, maybe white paint with a pretty, colourful fabric???
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are the sweetest detail! Can't wait to see how this turns out....
Adorable! Have you seen the latest Country Living? One of the features is a home with so much fun color..in a canary yellow. I don't have a spot (yet), where it would fit...but this chair would be so fun in a bright color, with fun fabric. Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteI love that chair Londen...what are you going to do? I would have to do it in a gustavian finish with a pale blue and creamy white checked seat!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great ideas!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and commenting!! I *LOVE* the chair. My mother has 2 chairs quite similar to this that belonged to my great Grandmother. I can't wait to see what you do with this beauty! And love your blog too!

Love the chair. I see it in the dining room....maybe to the left of the mantle with a cute little side table....another spot to put cool things on ...LOL And I say white with a pretty fabric...something to pick up the black in the room. Or burlap and stencil/paint something on it. So many choices...have fun.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't painted the dresser. Everytime I go to do it I chicken out...but eventually I will...just gonna take the right mood and day :)
I am rather in love with your $7 chair.
ReplyDeleteooooh that IS a great find indeed!!!!!!! For $7, you can paint and cover... then repaint, recover, then repaint and recover til your heart is content! My furniture sees me coming with a paintbrush and literally starts crying. :) Well done!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh and preschool is going great by the way!! I LOVE school days and can't wait to pick her up to hear about all the things they did that day. I swear I must be a preschooler at heart. I think that graham crackers and gold stars run in my blood!
Want to see how the chair would look in dark dark green with a vintage crewel seat? I did a pair of them here: http://www.finedivingchicago.com/?p=2018
ReplyDeleteHope this helps!
