Normally the Louis chairs sit across from each other like the picture below, but until I find the right piece to go in front of the old window, the chair keeps it from getting knocked down.
I love mixing painted and stained furniture together in a room. The buffet is a reproduction from a really cool store in Chicago called Vintage Pine.
The photographs on either side of the TV are wild flowers taken on a trip to Glacier National Park. A couple of my favorite white and orange pumpkins are sitting on estate sale candle holders and a bunch of acorns say fall is here.
As you can see, I have a thing for pumpkins and gourds sitting on candlesticks.
I found the letters for a dollar each at Hobby Lobby and used some leftover chalkboard spray paint to give them a matte finish.
We're going apple picking this weekend to start the fall festivities. Any fall plans for the weekend?

I completely agree with you about mixing stained and painted furniture in a room. The store you mentioned sounds like a great place and I love the buffet. You must be enjoying cooler weather than we are here in Greensboro. It is still in the 90's every day and hasn't rained in a month so everything is dusty and dead looking, yuck. Fall weather can't come soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet and subtle fall decorations! Hoping to visit a pumpkin patch this weekend, fall is in full form here in the Northwest. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of your decorating! It's very pretty and soothing!
ReplyDeleteLove the look, so simple and classy!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I just dug out my fall decorations this afternoon. And what did I discover? I want to get rid of most of it! Im definitely preferring the simple look to the "all decked out" Ive done in recent years.
ReplyDeleteHandbags N Pigtails,
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing a few years ago with my Christmas decorations. I was storing things I didn't use anymore so out they went.
so glad i like what you've done. phew! i'm not a real big fan of over the top seasonal decor. you've done a beautiful job. love that buffet juxtaposed with the tv and black and white prints. really well done, in my opinion.

Londen,
ReplyDeleteThis room is GORGEOUS! I too love to add stained and painted furniture in a room, not so matchy-matchy. Your scattered fall deor is perfect. I was ready to decorate for fall, started and have kinda lost the mood...still much too hot in FL.
Best wishes,
Tammy
it looks so pretty- i love your little fall touches! your home is just beautiful, londen!
ReplyDeleteI love the simple look of pumpkins on candlesticks. I don't mean simple as a bad thing, it very crisp and streamlined. I'm going to steal the idea!
ReplyDeleteHopefully my hubs will get my Halloween/Fall boxes out of the attic this weekend. Last year I didn't even decorate b/c the baby was born in October, I was too lazy to decoate. So it's been 2 years, I forget what I have to decoate with.
I LOVE your coffee table!
your house is so charming. that room & the furnishings are gorgeous.
ReplyDeletei agree with everyone else. i love WOOD (esp this time of year) but i love painted pieces too.

ReplyDeleteI am right there with you! I love the fall and here in MA the leaves get really pretty! Weather is gorgeous too. Your home looks so lovely and perfect decorations for fall. I love everything you have done. It is so fun to decorate for this time of year. I just did a post today on a getting ready for Halloween and a fun project with bats. Every year I say I am going to start early and I feel late already...in planning that is...wouldn't actually decorate for Halloween until Octber 1st (maybe). Enjoy~

I'm thinking I might have a thing for pumkins on candlesticks too. I just love yours-- totally going to steal your idea. I like how you added just a few touches of fall to your room. It says fall, but it's not in-your-face-fall if you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
You place is just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've been lazy since the kids started school, but enough. This weekend I'm going to get my mantel done. In your honor.
