Here are a few before pictures...
Do you see how the drawers overlap the cabinet? That will help explain the next picture.
Because of that, the drawers needed to be removed and wrapped like presents before I could paint them. If I didn't wrap them, the overspray from the sprayer would have been all over the sides and insides of the drawers. This was my husband's idea and it worked perfectly.
Let us get one more look at the orange finish shall we?
I think the big impact for these dressers is the hardware. They didn't have any their whole life until now.
For the long one, I put all the pulls on and didn't love it. So I used wood filler and filled the newly drilled holes so I could use the glass pulls on the top three drawers.
I think the glass pulls make all the difference on both dressers.
So what do you think? Big boy furniture making a comeback? ;)

ReplyDeletethe glass pulls. so sophisticated yet comfy.
Absolutely amazing, as usual!!
ReplyDeleteThey look great! And you're right, the hardware makes all the difference in the world. Without the glass knobs, it might look a bit too "office furniturey" but with them they look totally modern! What a great way to reuse a piece of furniture with so much family history!
ReplyDeleteThey look great! Fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see your friend at the Flea on Sunday...maybe she didn't make it?? I didn't have much left, just a handful of pieces so maybe she just didn't see what she was looking for so didn't introduce herself...anyway thanks for the referral! ;o)

ReplyDeleteBig Boy furniture is making a come back, if it looks like this! I love the color and the hardware! Good Job!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Its so cute that you wrap them like presents - then your unwrapping a present before putting it all together. I use tape and saran wrap - definetely not as exciting lol Have a good weekend!

ReplyDeleteThey look great! I love your choice in hardware. And wrapping the drawers like presents is a great tip! Thanks for sharing.
