Now I am a wood burning fireplace kind of girl...the warmth, the crackle and the ambiance is so very nice, especially around the holidays. If you are new here you should know there is none of that going on at 65th avenue, sad, I know. I do have fun decorating the mantel for the different seasons though. If you would like to see the mantel before it got some chalkboard paint, click here.
I bought the garland from PB a few years ago on clearance. I used to use fresh greens but I hated having to wait until the week before to decorate the mantel.
The trees are from Hobby Lobby. The last few years I used tall candlesticks, but they have been hanging out all year so I needed a change.
Is it just me or does this sign remind you of the movie It's a Wonderful Life? One of my favorite movies of all time!
Here is the other side of the room when you can see the dining room table. Right now it's acting as Christmas central until I finish putting everything together. What a difference good light makes, this picture was taken on a sunny day. Today we had none.

ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of it and you know I'm diggin' the German glass glitter. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how classically you've done it -- I've seen more than a few mantels that just seem contrived and overdone. Yours, however, is very, very pretty! And ... As you said, the sign IS reminiscent of "It's a Wonderful Life". :)
ReplyDeleteLove the mantel, I'm all about simple this year and lots of greenery! Very pretty with just the right amount of sparkle :)

ReplyDeletePineapple room, we brought a few home from a trip to Yosemite national park years ago. When we got home we found out we were not supposed to take them. I did see a garden center selling some similar ones the other day. They were called sugar cones I think.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful <3 I love the earthiness =)
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing, I find that editing can sometimes be the hardest thing. I wasn't liking my mantel either and had to start over, amazingly I liked the simple version better :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where you got that cool sign but I see you answered that question! I love it! Our mantles are actually quite similar...yours is a little more woodsy. I love how your new chair looks next to the fireplace...maybe a great spot for a pretty present!
