Through The Eyes Of A Four Year Old

Projects tend to take a while around here. Sometimes I just really need to think about something or live with it for a while before I can commit. That is how the dining room photo wall has been....lots of thinking. Well, we finished it up this weekend and Mr. 65th couldn't be happier, he is great with a tape measure and very patient with me...most of the time.

I was showing the little one the photographs on the wall today when we got to one taken on a trip to Paris.

My mom and I always talked about going together and in 2008 we did.

I told her Paris is a very old city.

M asked: Are some parts rusty?

Me: Yes...I guess some parts are rusty.

M: But sometimes scratches make it look cool right?

Yes, I think she is right about that, she is obviously used to seeing things with "character" around here.

I read somewhere about a mom who would jot down some of the funny and crazy things her kids say on scraps of paper and throw them in a jar to always remember. I've been doing this for a while now....I have some good ones! Oh, and I date mine too.

I will be back soon with some dining room pictures.

  1. Oh the things a four year old will say ;-). We have our own interesting conversations with your four yr. old.

My husband created email accounts for both our boys and we send them emails with things that happened or little things they said. When they are old enough, we'll give them access to the email account and they can read the memories. I might also print out the emails someday and put them in a book for each of them.

Thanks for sharing! Would love to go to Paris someday. I finally made it to London this year.

  2. I am the same way with a project - slow and steady. Things just don't happen overnight in the real world! I am still plugging away at my photo wall too. I love your idea about the jar...precious!

  6. How cute. Kids say the sweetest/cutest things and the grow up like that. Wish I had started a family blog when the boys were little.

  7. I sure hope that rusty, scratched things are pretty because I am one! I like the jar idea. I bought notebooks for my daughters and labeled them with the kids' names followed by isms. example Juliaisms........ That would be for me if I ever said anything worth writing. Anyway, my daughters are writing stuff in those books. The jar would be quicker though and more likely to be done.

  8. Awww...what a cutie! I think it's great that you are keeping track of all the cute sayings! What a fabulous idea. We still laugh about some of the things my girls said when they were little (they are now 17 and almost 21).

  14. I am definitely going to write those things down too. I recently found a blog where she has "what they say" in a link, and I've loved reading what hers said (and I don't even know them!) ha:)

  18. I love that you got to go to Paris with your Mom! What an amazing place to share with someone you love. And I also love hearing about the creative ideas other moms have to remember their children's younger years...keep those great ideas coming! I could certainly use a little inspiration with our first on the way.
